As we close the chapter on our 60th anniversary celebration, we are reminded that Franco is defined by our dedication to excellence and the people who embody it. Franco has always attracted talent, but it’s our team’s love for human connection that amplifies the impact of their skills, motivates them to go deeper and positively influences the world around them.  

General Motors Director of Communications, Digital Services & Experiences Rita Kass-Shamoun embraced every aspect of working at Franco. Rita worked on a variety of client accounts like the Michigan Optometric Association, Covenant House Michigan, Delta Dental and Tiffany between 2008 and 2010. She reflects on her time here and how combining foundational skills with enthusiastic networking set her up for future success managing external PR/communications for GM’s technology business, including OnStar.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Franco?
Being able to work with a number of classmates from CMU. Galvanizing old relationships and creating new relationships within the agency. 

What about your experience at Franco makes you more effective in your current role?
Foundational skills around account management and customer service. 

What did you enjoy most about working at Franco?
We had a great variety of clients in various industries. It was great to learn and understand the business of all the different industries. 

What do you feel makes Franco stand out from other agencies?
A very long and well-respected history. 

Describe your biggest learning moment while working at Franco.
Learning the power of networking and how to do it. 

What else is on your mind?
Eternally proud of Tina Kozak. Watching her grow as a young leader — pivoting the agency to becoming progressive and agile to meet TODAY’S integrative communications needs.
