We recently had the pleasure to ask Mark Davidoff, Deloitte Michigan Managing Partner, a few questions about how Detroit inspires him and Deloitte.
How does Detroit inspire you?
Detroit inspires me every day given all of the tremendous growth in the past number of years.
As a matter of reflection, in 1805, after the great fire, Detroit added a slogan to its seal which says, “it will rise from the ashes” and that’s really what we’re doing today. After all we’ve been through over the past number of decades, we are organized today with a sense of cohesion among community leadership: government, corporate and community; moving Detroit forward in all the important ways.
Why do you think you were named Michiganian of the year?
It’s not about me, it’s about the platform that Deloitte provides to drive services to our community that we live and work in. It’s about our Michigan team and all we do to move Michigan forward. This year we spent a lot of time in Flint. Obviously with the crisis in Flint, which we all own, it was important for us to rally around the people and citizens of Flint.

What do you see as key to talent acquisition in Detroit?
Deloitte’s business in Detroit, like all around the world, is all about talent and our ability to attract and retain the best and the brightest. We have a phenomenal opportunity in Michigan to continue to attract those who are born and educated here and we have a growing opportunity to get those who came here to be educated to stay, and for those who have never been here before to choose Detroit over other locations.
