If you’ve ever asked someone in the communications or marketing world to explain a “typical” day, you’d likely get the response that no two days are the same in this industry.

Since starting at Franco 15 years ago, one of the things I love most about my work is the variety each day and each client program brings to our team. It’s not uncommon to go from participating in a brainstorm for an auto supplier, to working on an enrollment strategy for a school, to developing an integrated strategy for a mission-driven nonprofit.

In our nearly six decades in business, I’m proud that Franco has partnered with clients in a variety of industries. We’ve strategically grown our business by not putting all our eggs into one industry or service basket.

The strategic diversification of industry work has led us to an exciting new milestone for Franco: being part of O’Dwyer’s annual ranking of PR firms, which includes earning a #1 ranking in Michigan for seven industry areas (plus ranking #2 in Michigan overall and in the top 100 across the country!). O’Dwyer’s has been a benchmark for the growth of the PR industry for more than 50 years.

Each year, the company ranks agencies on net fees and staff. In 2022, Franco ranked number one in Michigan (based on 2021 fees) in the following industries:

  • Automotive
  • Education
  • Energy
  • Healthcare
  • Nonprofit
  • Professional Services
  • Real Estate Finance & Development

Since we have experience creating integrated communications programs for clients in several industries, we have the advantage of drawing inspiration from one industry to benefit another. I’ve watched our teams do this countless times! You may not think a campaign that worked for a Michigan-based restaurant would also work for an automotive technology company (with a little tweaking, of course), but trust me, it can.

With roots deep in the automotive industry, Franco has earned a reputation as the go-to resource for mobility and auto companies needing marketing and communications support.

Understanding the sensitive, targeted and timely nature of these efforts, we’ve helped our clients in the healthcare industry make critical connections through integrated communications.

From building awareness through media relations to crafting advertising campaigns to reach the next generation of volunteers, communications for nonprofits are where heart and soul meet strategy and innovation.

Marketing a professional service requires a completely different approach than marketing a product – something we’ve successfully done countless times in our almost 60-year history.
