The days are shorter, the weather is cooler – that can only mean one thing for a girl in automotive public relations in Detroit –auto show season is upon us! For those of us who work in and around the auto industry, it’s an exciting and busy time.We saw some great product introductions at the LA Auto Show in November, including three world debuts, six North American debuts and nine production debuts. The Tokyo Motor Show also proved interesting – with debuts from MINI, Renault and Lexus. And now here we are, at the onset of the 25th anniversary of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which will be set at the newly-renovated COBO Hall in Detroit. If you haven’t had a chance to sneak a peek at the new COBO, trust me, it’s amazing and it will make the 2014 NAIAS all the more exciting.
This year, we can expect as many as 50 concept and production vehicle introductions; among the most anticipated include the Ford F-150 Aluminum, the Chrysler 200 and the Chevy Corvette X06. And beyond the automakers, the NAIAS brings together suppliers, media and affiliated industries like connected vehicle systems, NASCAR and Indy racing and fleet management. I’ll be there supporting media relations and social media for DENSO North America and Michigan International Speedway.
