The establishment of our current core values may have happened in the later years of our agency’s evolution, but there’s no denying they’ve had a place here since the beginning. Opportunity is one core value that can be traced back to our roots, having been embodied by countless Franconians over the years – past and present.
Those who embrace Opportunity know to answer when it knocks…for Colleen Robar, an opportunity beyond Franco happened to knock after a short time working here!
She is now the president of Detroit-based Robar PR, where she works with national mobility accounts and Detroit-based small businesses and nonprofits. Although she was a Franconian for a short time in 1990, she still looks back on her experience with fondness.

What did you enjoy most about working at Franco?
It was wonderful to walk to work in the Renaissance Center. I lived down the street at Jefferson and Rivard.
What do you feel makes Franco stand out from other agencies?
Amazing people who really care about the success of their clients.
Describe your biggest learning moment while working at Franco.
I loved working with Joyce Cusmano. She had a great laugh, and clients really respected her talents and creativity. She ran an exceptional meeting.
What is your favorite memory from your time at Franco?
I think I had the shortest tenure ever at Franco. I was brought in to help with the Westin and Zehnder’s accounts since I had just left The Ritz-Carlton, Dearborn. Shortly after I started at Franco, Crain recruited me to become promotions manager of Detroit Monthly magazine, and I took the job. I stayed there 15 years. I think my business cards arrived on my last day at Franco and Joyce jokingly threw them at me.
