Here in Detroit, March 13 isn’t just another day…it’s 313 Day – an opportunity to celebrate the culture and history of the city we call home.
Since Franco was founded in 1964, Detroit has always been our home. In 2015 at TEDxDetroit, our Detroit Inspires Me initiative was born. Over the years we’ve connected with members of the community to share Detroit inspiration stories from all across southeast Michigan, including city leaders, media personalities and even Governor Whitmer.
Speaking of inspiration, there are several nonprofits in Michigan doing amazing work in their communities. We support several Michigan-based nonprofits during the year through our integrated communications programs, but we wanted to extend the support in honor of 313 Day to two nonprofits that aren’t currently clients.
This year, the Franco team came together to select two nonprofits that support Detroit communities to give back to. Our team selected:
- Children’s Foundation to support its Adolescent Addiction Recovery Center.
- Make Food Not Waste to help further their mission of reducing food waste in Detroit.
Hear directly from our team on why they feel passionate about uplifting these organizations:
“Food insecurity could be eradicated if our current food supply was appropriately distributed and consumed. I love that Make Food Not Waste helps with both hunger in our community and environmental issues.” – Grace Turner, Integrated Communications Specialist (on Make Food Not Waste)
“Health/well-being/wellness is becoming more and more important to me, especially for the younger generations. It’s important that this is a necessity and that children have access to resources like this.” – Alexis Schuchert, Integrated Communications Specialist (on Children’s Foundation)
Simply put, we love the 313. Do you know someone who’s driving change and uplifting Detroit? We’d love to consider them for an upcoming episode on our podcast, frankly… Send a brief introduction to our team at [email protected].
