Situation
In 2024, Walbridge was experiencing a period of rapid growth, driven, in part, by the automotive industry’s accelerated investments in U.S.-based plants for electric vehicles, batteries and battery packs.
As a leading general contractor with deep expertise in the automotive industry, Walbridge, sought to elevate its industry profile and ensure its leadership team was well prepared to represent the company in interviews amid heightened media interest and when delivering presentations at industry conferences.
Walbridge engaged Franco to help prepare its senior executives for potential media interviews and industry conferences by strengthening message clarity, increasing confidence on camera and equipping leaders to respond effectively to challenging or sensitive questions.
Approach
Franco developed and delivered a customized media training program designed specifically for Walbridge’s business, growth trajectory and industry environment.
The program included in-depth, one-on-one, on-camera mock interview sessions for seven senior executives. Interview questions were tailored to Walbridge’s history, rapid expansion, role in the automotive sector, construction of data centers and emerging industry challenges, as well as evolving perceptions of electric vehicles.
Each session was designed to simulate real media interactions and provided executives with immediate, actionable feedback.
Additional components of the training included:
- An overview of today’s rapidly changing media landscape
- Insight into how reporter’s think, operate and develop stories
- Best practices for preparing for media interviews
- Techniques for delivering clear, confident messages
- Strategies for handling touchy, unexpected or sensitive questions
Results
Following the training sessions, Walbridge executives reported feeling more confident and better prepared to participate in future media interviews.
