>>CHALLENGE

The American Iron and Steel Institute Automotive Program, which serves as the voice of the American steel industry and advances the case for steel in automotive, hired Franco to plan and execute the 20th annual Great Designs in Steel symposium. The event highlights the latest in advanced high-strength steels, automotive body design, engineering and manufacturing technologies from industry experts and is the longest-running automotive materials conference in the world.

The focus of this program was to successfully plan and execute a turnkey in-person event at a new venue. The 2021 symposium was virtual, and all previous 18 years of the event were held at Laurel Manor in Livonia, Michigan. This year’s symposium took place at the Suburban Collection Showplace (SCS) in Novi, Michigan.

The objective of the symposium is to provide automotive steel industry professionals with:

  • Insights from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), automotive suppliers, steel manufacturers, academia and more.
  • A networking environment with executives, engineers and automotive designers from around the world.
  • Sponsorship/exhibitor opportunities for companies to showcase their automotive steel technologies.
